What's going on in the communities where you are studying regarding 350's International Day of Action to educate about global climate change issues and pressure delegates to enact strict legislation? How are your communities abroad being affected and what are they and/or you doing about it? We'd love to hear stories. There is a lot of energy around this topic and day here in Ithaca, New York and 350 claims that 1000s of communities around the world are planning activities on the 24th. It'd be interesting to know if you are involved, so post your ideas and actions here.
1) Ithaca College will be hosting a 350.org event on the 23rd here on campus. We are trying to get 350 (or more) participants to dress as ghosts and parade around campus and take a picture. We are dressing up as ghosts for two reasons 1.) because it is near Halloween and 2.) because this is a serious (and potentially fatal) problem that we all must face. Each ghost will be dyed blue at the bottoms to represent the rising sea levels which could could leave many small nations uninhabitable.
2) The Ithaca Community will be taking a 350.org picture on the 18th of October on The Commons in Downtown Ithaca. Following a Bioneers Conference, we will be having participants form the shape of the numbers 350 and take a picture from one of the tops of the buildings. We are reaching out to the entire community to get involved in this important issue, and it should be great!
