The part that I like about the smart meters is that it allows the power companies (and anyone else with access to their database) to develop personalized profiles on EVERY power user. They can figure out when you get up in the morning, when you leave for work, whether there's people in your house during the day, when you come home in the evening, and when you go to sleep. They can figure out whether you're away for the weekend, or on an extended vacation. With that information, the government will be able to 'help' people plan their lives, so as to minimize their carbon footprint without using any payday installment loans. They can, for example, 'encourage' some people to consider alternate working hours, vary their vacation schedules, etc.
