VOLUNTEER AND/OR ENGAGE YOUR HOST COMMUNITY
Even if you’re not studying abroad with a volunteer or
service-learning program, there are many ways that you can get
involved in your host community. We highly recommend you refer to
Idealist.org's
International
Volunteerism Resource Center, which is a comprehensive online
source of information, tools, and strategies for making informed
decisions about engaging in meaningful international service. If
you volunteer while abroad, please tell us about the experience on
your blog. If you'd recommend the volunteer organization/venue to
future study abroad students, please share the contact information
on the Volunteering/Civic Engagement Forum.
RESEARCH SUSTAINABILITY TOPICS ABROAD

SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY
Join 350.org and become a "Messenger Abroad." 350.org is an
international grassroots campaign that aims to mobilize a global
climate movement united by a common call to action. 350 represents
the parts per million carbon dioxide concentration that leading
scientists have now set as an upper threshold for a safe climate.
350.org is working hard "to embed the number 350 deeply in public
consciousness—make it ubiquitous across societies, languages, and
ideologies. Check out the
350 studyabroadguide.pdf to see how you can spread the word
about sustainability or visit
