Your vision and voice are powerful tools. When you study abroad you
have a unique privilege to experience another culture and country.
By writing blog entries and by taking photographs or videos and
posting them online you have a chance to tell important
sustainability stories. You may even want to take it a step further
and write an article to submit to a magazine and post on the Green
Passport site. Forums and user groups may also be useful to share
your interests and questions with others who are studying
abroad.
Let people see the world through your eyes!
Photography: We are interested to see photos that depict the
intersection of sustainability and study abroad and/or that show
how other cultures are dealing with today's environmental and
social justice issues.

Photos that you add to the site will automatically be added to the
slide show on the home page. Photos are also often sought by study
abroad magazines, websites and organizations such as
Abroad View,
Glimpse and
Cafe Abroad so feel
free to inquire if they would be interested in yours. Also, keep in
mind, that your college may be interested in showing your photos or
perhaps you can submit them as part of a photo contest.
Videos: Ditto the above. If we get enough videos we'll add a
link to the homepage.
Articles: Your lens can shift perspectives. Your words can
inform and inspire others about creating a more just and
sustainable world. Interested in visiting a green skyscraper or a
biodynamic farm?

Use your visit as an opportunity to do research and write an
article. Is there an environmentalist or activist you’d like to
meet in your host country? Perhaps this is your opportunity to
conduct an interview! We challenge you to get your feet wet doing
fieldwork, interviews, ethical research, collecting information,
gaining access to a story and creating your own thought-provoking
articles. There are a few magazines that cater specifically to
study abroad students which would be interested to hear from you.
Check out Abroad View, Glimpse and/or Cafe Abroad to see where your
article would be most appropriate and it's likely you could get
published.

Blogs: Blogs are here for you to document and share your
experiences as you see fit. An emphasis on sustainability in
general would be good, but feel free to use the blog space as best
suits you.
Forums: Need to find out how other people studying in India
are traveling with a light carbon footprint? Want to know where
someone else studying in Brazil will be spending their eco-holiday?
Want to find out how other students are promoting sustainability at
their study abroad sites?

Perhaps you can find out via the Forums. Feel free to add to
existing forums or create new ones based on your interests and
questions.
User Groups: We're not quite sure what the advantages and
disadvantages of forums versus user groups are, but we'll let you
decide what works for you! Several groups already exist based on
which schools students are coming from, but it may also be helpful
to have groups based on where students are studying or other common
interests. Feel free to join groups or create new ones based on
your interests and questions.
